Follow the Whales !

Following the success of the family PEKUAKAMI, in Quebec during the summer of 2007, two new camps have been created with the theme of marine biology, specifically focusing on marine mammals.

At the Center for Scientific Living in Pointe Racine, Lac St Jean, we are now teaching the techniques of marine biology to student’s age 7 to 18 years.

Lac St Jean, the third largest body of water in Quebec because of its reserves in ice and frozen land of Nunavik, flows into a delta of large rivers as big as oceans : Péribonka, Ashuapmushuan, Mistassini...

With Ouananiche, children 7 years and up can explore the mouths of local rivers. These areas are home to an incredibly rich ecosystem of aquatic species, plants, birds, mammals, and fish...

From 12 years old, your adventures will take you to Long Fjord (Le long du fjord), on the trail of the belugas. Each year, these docile whales return to the warm, calm waters of St. Marguerite Bay to give birth to their young..

For 13 to 15 year-olds, the giants of the seas (Géants des mers) are within your reach. From the shore or on the water, it is up to you to develop a protocol to monitor the activities of the whales.

Finally, the older students at camp Mishtamek, will listen to whales. The role of your team will be to design a way to record and preserve the famous songs of whales...
