The birth of Borealis

Long ago, the Pekuakamiulnuatsch, original inhabitants of Lake St. John, told a tale of Mishtamishk the giant beaver, Mishtape giant the hunter, Kakuna the little girl, and the snowman. In those days, the animals of the forest, skunks, wolverine, mink and weasel, held council in the woods. The bear was the true lord of the forest, and the men of the Porcupine nation respected the woods.

It is with joy that the entire team at Objective Sciences Quebec announces the birth of a new family of BOREALIS camps focusing on the terrestrial ecosystems and local traditions of Lac St Jean.

These two principal themes will be developed using binoculars, hunting in the mountains (photographs !), and working as a wood hunter, an ethnologist or a geographer.

Camper’s aged 7 to 18 years will learn many techniques for monitoring the fauna and flora ; they will follow animal trails through the analysis of aerial photographs, by constructing a lookout, and any other projects that may be proposed by them ! We are already looking forward to starting the adventure !
