Long ago, the Pekuakamiulnuatsch, original inhabitants of Lake St. John, told a tale of Mishtamishk the giant beaver, Mishtape the giant hunter, Kakuna the little girl, and the snowman. In those days, the animals of the forest, skunks, wolverine, mink and weasel, held council in the woods. The bear was the true lord of the forest, and the men of the Porcupine nation respected the woods.
Today, the world has changed, but Lac St-Jean still holds a wild and rich ecosystem. With the family of camps BOREALIS, follow with us the tracks of the best-kept secrets of the boreal forest.
Camp “Tracks” is the perfect introduction to the world of BOREALIS. With these projects for younger children, you discover how to track animals in the forest ... following the tracks !
With Camp “Trails”, you push the adventure further and develop your own tracking techniques : lookout, photo-traps or even collecting hair samples.
Young adults will really take to the heights, with “View” from the Sky, which will help them rediscover the environment that surrounds us, but from above : aerial and satellite photos, or maybe building our own system of aerial photography ?
Finally, with “Nitassinan” the oldest campers venture in the track of men, rediscovering the knowledge and know-how of the aboriginal Innu of Lac St Jean.

- Nitassinan : Following in the tracks of Pekuakamilnuatsch. From 16 to 18 years old.
- View from the sky : Take to the heights ! From 13 to 15 years old.
- Trails : Discover the secrets of BOREALIS. From 10 to 12 years old.
- Tracks : Suggested for aspiring woodhunters ! From 7 to 9 years old.
Courir dans les bois, crapahuter dans la forêt, observer la nature, être curieux, devenir l’ami des castors, espionner les orignaux, rencontrer les cultures autochtones...
Il y a bien longtemps, chez les Pekuakamiulnuatsch, premiers habitants du lac St-Jean, on racontait l’histoire de Mishtamishk le grand castor, du chasseur géant Mishtape, de Kakuna la petite fille, ou de l’homme des neiges. A cette époque, les animaux de la forêt, moufette, carcajou, vison ou belette tenaient conseil dans la forêt. L’ours était un vrai seigneur des bois et les hommes, ceux de la nation des Porcs-épics, respectaient les arbres.
Aujourd’hui, le monde a bien changé, mais le lac St-Jean recèle toujours une nature sauvage et riche. Avec la famille des camps BOREALIS, pars avec nous sur les traces des secrets les mieux gardés de la forêt boréale.
Le camp Traces est une introduction idéale au monde de BOREALIS. Avec ces séjours destinés aux plus jeunes tu découvres comment suivre les animaux de la forêt... à la trace !
Avec Pistes, tu pousses l’aventure plus loin en développant tes propres techniques de pistage : affut, piège photo ou encore piège à poils.
Les jeunes ados, eux, vont prendre de la hauteur avec Vu du Ciel, il s’agit de redécouvrir l’environnement qui nous entoure mais vu d’en haut : photos satellites et aériennes, ou construction de notre propre système de photographie aérienne ?
Enfin, avec Nitassinan, c’est sur la trace des hommes que s’aventurent les plus grands, en redécouvrant les savoirs-faires ancestraux des Innus du lac St Jean.
